Enchanted Village of Yanque
The Uyo Uyo Archaeological Complex, known as the Enchanted Village of Yanque, is a testament to pre-Columbian history in the region. According to historians, Uyo Uyo was initially occupied by the Collaguas around 1300 AD, followed by Inca presence starting from around 1400 AD and later by the Spanish.
The main architectural complex primarily belongs to the Collaguas period, although Inca structures can also be observed. The constructions at Uyo Uyo are remarkably well-preserved, with high stone walls and mud mortar. The houses are designed with characteristic trapezoidal doors, gable roofs with straw, interior niches, and two floors.
